BUN (Blood Urea Nitrogen)

A waste product made when your body breaks down protein. Your kidneys remove it from the blood, so a high level can mean the kidneys are not filtering well or that you are dehydrated.

Calcium

A mineral needed for strong bones, muscle movement, nerve signals and a steady heartbeat. Abnormal levels can point to bone, kidney, parathyroid or nutrition problems.

Creatinine

A waste product from normal muscle use that the kidneys clear from the blood. A rising level suggests the kidneys may not be clearing waste as well as they should.

eGFR CKD-EPI (2021), creatinine-based

An estimate of how well your kidneys are filtering blood, calculated from your creatinine, age and sex using the current 2021 standard equation. It is a key number for finding and tracking chronic kidney disease.

Glucose

Your blood sugar level. It is used to screen for prediabetes and diabetes and to spot blood sugar that is too low.

Potassium

An electrolyte that is essential for a regular heartbeat and for muscle and nerve function. Levels that are too high or too low can be serious.

Sodium

An electrolyte that controls your body's water balance and helps regulate blood pressure, nerves and muscles.

Urine Albumin/Creatinine Ratio

Compares albumin to creatinine in a urine sample. It is the recommended screening test for early kidney damage.

Water pills, ACE inhibitors and ARBs can change potassium, sodium and kidney function. Regular checks help catch these changes before they cause problems.
